Shibuya guitar wizard Masayoshi Takanaka spent the early 80s refining a neon-bright fusion style that folded samba, disco and surf into his trademark melodic flare and Ocean Breeze catches him at the crest of that wave. First released in 1982, the live LP pulls material from his Power Play '80 & '81 tour, where he roamed freely through a medley tying together 'Beleza Pula', 'Tokyo Reggae', 'Taj Mahal' and 'Mambo No. Five (Disco Dango)', then detoured into pieces from The Rainbow Goblins and his debut Seychelles. The band was stacked, with Hirokuni Korekata on second guitar, Akihiro Tanaka on bass and Mimi Kobayashi on keys, each pushing Takanaka toward ever-brighter phrasing.
